I have been a GP in central Manchester since 1985. Before that I worked in most of the hospitals in Manchester and Salford. I gained extra cardiology experience and qualification during this time. I was involved in training GPs in cardiological problems and developed a heart failure service in central Manchester for GP patients. I have been involved with developing several NICE guidelines and Quality Standards relating to cardiological conditions. I now focus on assessing and managing patients with symptoms who have been referred by their GP.

I was born in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong and came to the UK in my teenage years where I attended and qualified from Dundee Medical School. I initially pursued a career in hospital cardiology but transferred to General Practice for an improved work-life balance after becoming a father. I have continued to pursue my cardiology career alongside General Practice working in clinics and being involved in research. My area of interest is hypertension. I was the chief investigator in the Integrated Care Pilot Research Project, focusing on preventative cardiology. I have published a paper on community based angina clinics in the British Journal of Cardiology. Having been invited by the Baroness Marshan of Ilton, I attended a parliamentary briefing on ECG telemedicine in the House of Lords. I have been GP public health lead and have been a director in the Tameside Councils Charity Sport Trust board. Following my retirement from General Practice in 2023, I now practice as a community cardiologist. I am happily married and my hobbies include badminton (county level), bridge (county level), travel and poetry.
