WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR AMBULATORY ECG MONITOR APPOINTMENT

  • Please attend your appointment wearing loose fitting clothing as the ECG sits on your chest and torso.

  • Showering or bathing are advised before your appointment: depending on the ECG device given you may not be able to shower, bathe or swim during your monitoring period. This will be discussed further with the cardiac technician at your appointment.

  • Please do not use any lotions or oily substances on the skin on the day of the appointment unless needed for medical reasons.

  • Due to the position of the device please be aware that chest hair may need to be removed in order for the device to work correctly and efficiently.

  • Please be aware you are required to return your monitor on the agreed date to the same clinic where you had your appointment. Alternative arrangements maybe considered by the cardiac technician.

  • You will be asked to provide an emergency contact at the appointment. This can be a family member or a friend’s contact number. This is a measure put in place so we can contact the patient in case of anything urgent.
