ABOUT US

Heart Networks is North, Central and South Manchester’s Tier II Community Cardiology Service; rated Good by CQC. Our focus is to provide all our patients with a first-class experience during our appointments;  diagnostic and full cardiology assessments. Our clinics operate out of the following two sites: Christie Way (Chorlton) and the Manchester Institute of Health & Performance (Openshaw).

Here at Heart Networks we are a GP Specialist led community-based cardiology out-patient service who work alongside NHS Manchester Foundation Trust to reduce appointment waiting times for patients presenting with less complex cardiac symptoms by providing cardiology assessment, diagnostics and management.  Following our assessment and any investigations performed, a management plan is returned to the patients' GP.  Any patients who require further investigation/intervention following our review are onward referred directly to Secondary Care Cardiology Services.

PATIENT JOURNEY

We offer two different types of appointments; these are Diagnostic or Assessment type appointments.

With the former you will attend one appointment and be fitted with one of our devices whilst the results will be diverted straight to your GP. To learn more about the different types of testing that we offer click here.

With the latter you will be initially seen by one of our cardiac technicians who will perform a basic assessment including blood pressure monitoring and a 12-lead electrocardiogram (Heart Tracing).

Following an assessment and medical examination by one of our cardiology specialists you may well be asked to have some more detailed tests to aid with your diagnosis and treatment plan. Depending on availability we endeavour to perform these investigations on the day within a maximum of 3 weeks from your appointment.

Please note that we maintain a cancellation list for patients with flexible schedules. If a same-type appointment opens due to cancellation, we prioritize those on the list for earlier appointments. This often involves short notice, and cancellations are not guaranteed. To join the list, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
