Blood Pressure Monitor Advice

Welch Allen Blood pressure monitor:

Continue your day as normal, don’t let the monitor stop you from doing your daily tasks but be mindful during the reading itself and try to relax.

Showers are NOT permitted whilst wearing this monitor.

You do not need to press anything on this device as it will automatically check your blood pressure for you.

We require a good number of readings to get a summary of your blood pressure recordings, so please refrain from taking this monitor off before the 24 hours is up.

Stay still and try and sit down when the reading is being taken, relax your arm and refrain from speaking It is understood that 24 hours is a long period and you may not be able to stay still for each recording, should the monitor come up with an error a few times please do not panic, it is expected, and we are able to allow a margin for error.

Try your best to sleep on your back or on your right arm this will be best for your own comfort as monitor is placed on your left side.

Unfortunately, it is possible for you to experience some ‘pins and needles’ in your fingers, your hand/arm going stiff/numb or have some hand discolouration for a brief period when the cuff inflates, and recording is being made. This is very common for a lot of people during the test, however if a side effect occurs that you think is uncommon, please inform us.
