Patient Journey

We offer two different types of appointments; these are Diagnostic or Assessment type appointments.

With the former you will attend one appointment and be fitted with one of the below devices whilst the results will be diverted straight to your GP.

With the latter you will be initially seen by our clinic nurse who will perform a basic assessment including blood pressure monitoring and an electrocardiogram (Heart Tracing).

Following an assessment and medical examination by a heart specialist you may well be asked to have some more detailed tests to aid with your diagnosis and treatment plan. These investigations will usually be performed on the day. These may include :

Ambulatory ECG

A portable heart trace monitor that you will take home with
you to capture your symptoms as and when they occur.

We offer 24hr/48hr  or 3/5/7 day monitors.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring

A portable blood pressure machine that is worn at home
or work to monitor your blood pressure control

(24hrs Only)

Echocardiogram

This is an ultrasound of your heart to assess the structure and function. You will be referred locally to have this test within three
to six weeks after your appointment.

Alivecor

Alivecor KardiaMobile 6L is a personal portable six-lead Heart Monitor that works with your smartphone and fits easily into your pocket. Take unlimited ECGs anytime, anywhere without applying wires or patches and send them across to us for assessment.

Follow up

You will be seen/contacted again either on a face to face or telephone basis with your results to assess your progress approximately six to eight weeks after your initial consultation.

You may be written to or telephoned before this time
to give you results or advice.

Your GP will be informed of your progress within seven days
of your appointment with us

Kind thanks...

I would like to thank Dr Parkar for looking after me for past few weeks his expertise/professionalism is un-questionable unfortunately Dr Parkar was unable to get to bottom of things, as nothing actually happened to me whilst wearing a monitor for 7 days, however, if something did happen he did ask me to contact Heart Networks. Would you kindly thank Dr Parkar on my behalf and don't wish him to think I have wasted his precious time. Mlast appointment being 9th june 2018 at 10.10hrs kind regards.Hugh Kennedy

A big thank you...

I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in my recent experience. From GP referral to final results (thankfully no further follow up required) the service was extremely efficient, with follow ups and scan referrals being made within short timeframes. Everybody involved in the service from administration staff booking in the appointments and welcoming me at reception to the nurse/technician/doctor carrying out the consultations demonstrated utmost professionalism. They are all an absolute credit to the amazing service that is the NHS. I was particularly grateful for the approach that the doctor took during consultation, explaining clearly (verbally and with the use of hand drawn pictures) what the issue was and why he was choosing to take the actions he did to follow up. As the doctor was aware that I was from a scientific background the level of information provided was pitched perfectly and made me feel involved in the process. The patient centric approach taken by Heart Networks made me feel at ease with the situation, knowing that if something was wrong, I would be receiving the highest standard of care. Once again thank you (and I think the website looks great!).
